Winner of the Worshipful Company of Musicians’ ‘Young Musician of the Year’ award in 2009 along with MOBO and Parliamentary Jazz Awards as a member of the internationally acclaimed quartet ‘Empirical’ (which he co-founded and co-leads), drummer Shane Forbes is without question one of the most in demand musicians on the UK jazz scene. With a hugely impressive cv that includes regular appearances with the likes of Tomorrow’s Warriors, Jean Toussaint, Billy Jenkins, Claire Martin, Robert Mitchell and Soweto Kinch, his particularly impressive textural expressiveness and musical freedom have been the trademark of his sound in the countless projects he’s been a part of, both in the UK and Worldwide. Tonight Shane will be joined by a dream team of long-time friends and some of London’s finest musicians, handpicked for this special gig: Alec Harper -saxophone, Joe Webb-piano, Dave Archer -guitar and Will Sach -bass. Shane describes the music that they will perform this evening as “an exploration and adaptation of the tender, yet forcefully swinging style of the legendary jazz vocalist, Blossom Dearie”. This unique gig (they’ve only performed this repertoire twice before , promises to be something quite special. Booking advised!

“Forbes…energy…was contagious and…passion, creativity and concentration on stage were a joy to watch and to experience” London Jazz News; “Forbes…was a performance of searing intensity that left both the band and their online audience gasping for breath” The Jazz Mann
