Originally from the Shetland Islands and now based in London, Rachael Cohen is an alto saxophonist and composer on the rise with an infectious tone and an uncanny storytelling ability. Over the past few years, her live performances and composing skills have gained her great attention from the UK jazz press & community. One of Cohen’s strongest attributes is her lyrical and controlled phrasing when improvising which she delivers with the ease and sophistication of someone twice her age. Rachael continues to work extensively across the UK with her own projects and has come to be a mainstay at London clubs such as Ronnie Scott’s and the Vortex as well as having her residencies at other clubs throughout London.

Mark Kavuna on trumpet has established himself as a key player in the British Jazz explosion. As leader, he has released three albums . Mark infuses this indelible musical movement with the energy, attitude and swagger of a new generation of creators. He has a unique and distinctive trumpet sound. His lyricism, soulful tone and grace of technique spread infectious joy and mutual excitement among audiences and fellow musicians alike.

A gifted educator and inspirational creative enabler, Mark is an associate Music Leader for the Tomorrow’s Warriors programme, and is also involved in their professional performance ensembles including the acclaimed Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Jazz Jamaica Small band and Jazz Jamaica All Stars.

Joe Downard is on bass (Waaju, Andrew McCormak) and Kai Macrae on drums (Stan Sultzman, Sultan Stevenson).
