Nick Ramm studied at Guildhall School Of Music And Drama where he met Phil France from The Cinematic Orchestra. A few years later he toured and recorded with them appearing on their albums Ma Fleur and Live At The Royal Albert Hall. He currently works in the touring band of Mulatu Astatke and also with award winning Trinidad-born poet Anthony Joseph.
A 6-month phase of freely improvised gigs in 2023 left Ramm inspired to write a new set of ensemble compositions. Influenced by the styles of Miles, Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans and Herbie Hancock, these strong roots form the basis of the sound although contemporary styles such as afro beat, hip hop, funk, latin, spiritual jazz and freeness are also entwined in the sound.
The band is formed of close associates – Ramm worked in Wallen’s projects Sound Advice, Trumpet Kings and Black Flag, with Wareham’s group Acoustic Ladyland and with Herbert in Timeline, Jade Fox and Finn Peter’s Finntet.
